AT&T Network Disaster Recovery Exercise Begins Today in Ohio

July 31, 2012 ? Nisha Burke ?

You may have heard AT&T is conducting a Network Disaster Recovery exercise in Ohio today and tomorrow, (July 31 and August 1, 2012). As described in MarketWatch coverage of the planned event, refining, testing and strengthening AT&Ts business continuity/disaster recovery services is the reason why AT&T leads these exercises several times a year.? The test this week is the first to be held in Ohio.

What makes this exercise especially interesting to us here at StorageCraft is the indicated addition of focus on small businesses.? AT&T?s recently announced initiative ?Safeguard Your Business,? targeted at small businesses, echoes a sentiment we feel strongly about here at StorageCraft: small businesses also deserve enterprise-grade disaster recovery tools to safeguard their information and ensure they can continue business in the face of a disaster. Whether many of the small businesses of Ohio participate in the exercise or not, all should pay close attention to business continuity opportunities that come their way.

As described in the coverage, the Ad Council reports that nearly two-thirds of small businesses do not have a disaster preparedness plan in place today.? That?s unfortunate and risky because it?s well known that one in four small businesses will experience a ?significant? crisis in any given year (Association of Small Business Development Centers). Small steps taken now can pay off significantly if disaster strikes, especially for a small business that may not have the same resources a larger business could deploy in a crisis.

AT&T also recently released details from this year?s business continuity survey (targeted at larger businesses with total revenues of more than $25 million). According to AT&T, they have conducted this survey for more than 10 years to measure current trends and views on business continuity and disaster recovery preparedness. Take a look at AT&Ts survey results page and see how your business continuity plans compare to those included in the study.

StorageCraft offers business continuity solutions designed for small to medium businesses.? To learn more about tools available to help you ensure you are ready for any disaster, reach out to us today: contactus@storagecraft.com.
